Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > Sal Naturile and John Wojtowicz held up a Chase Manhattan Bank branch at 450 Avenue P, in Brooklyn, New York on August 22, 1972. At time, I was just learning the finer points of shooting with my Nikon F, and one of the first times I used color film. After sneaking past the police barricades I managed to squeeze off a few shots without a flash. ~~ Earlier in the day while I was working there were civilians all over the place and it was a general NYC police department fiasco. At night they closed things down; but knowing the neighborhood better than them, I was able to get these shots. ~~ NYPD was pretty bad in those days and I think this was even before the Knapp Commission hearings that made the politicos take a long hard look at them. Today they are one of the finest police departments in this country.
