Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > (2010-01-05) It was easy to spot this hive with no leaves on the trees. I would not want to be anywhere near this when it was occupied.
Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > I made the photo on the left 10 years ago when the Ramtown Fire Company first installed this unique mailbox fire hydrant. Ten years later I happened to be driving by and they were replacing the old white box which had deteriorated somewhat due to the weather. I made it a point to drive by again a few days later... and here it is...very cool Ramtown Fire Co. I even had the chance to use the new barricade tape copyright.
Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > (2010-02-10) More snow... we had 20 inches the first time around. The yard is full, the car was snow free until it started to come down about 7PM last night. It is now 2AM and coming steady and hard. The worst is that it is wet and no wind. Look at the way the snow is building up on the tree branches. I suspect that before this one is over, a few tree will be lost and the power will go out. I hate snow. Starting to get cabin fever.
Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > (2010-02-03) These huge wheels are millstones used for grinding wheat or other grains.

The type of stone most suitable for making millstones is a siliceous rock called buhrstone (or burrstone), an open-textured, porous but tough, fine-grained sandstone, or a silicified, fossiliferous limestone. In some sandstones, the cement is calcareous.

I photographed these stones in 1999 at Allaire State Park in New Jersey. They date to the early 1800s. Originally made on Kodak film using a Nikon 8008s, scanned in 2008 via Scan Cafe, and ressurected from my archives today and masaged with Silver Efex Pro plug-in on Aperture; emulating Kodak ISO 32 Panatomic X film.
Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > (2010-01-17) Since the weather is going to be sufficiently wet for the next few days, it absolutely rules out taking the electronics out to play. Instead, I dug this out of my digitized, 35mm film archives. I made this photo on an exploratory trip to San Diego in 2000.

The view is facing S/W, the building in the background is the La Jolla Bridge and Shuffleboard Club. The main body of water is the Pacific and the area in the foreground is known as the La Jolla Tidepool, not to be confused with the controversial Children's Pool about a mile south. I was standing on Coast Blvd when I snapped the shutter.

For the techies; the camera was a Nikon (naturally) 8008s, a Tamron 80-200 lens, Kodak slide film. Sorry, I don't remember the specifics. I had this scanned along with about 600 more by ScanCafe about two years ago. They do a great job and are inexpensive.

Post Processing: I just tweaked it a little using Apple's Aperture and NikSoftware's Viveza 2 plug-in, which I am trialing. I was able to lighten-up some of the darker areas and bring out the definition a little more. It is a very cool plug-in.

Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > (2010-01-09) This old farm house on a very rural but well traveled road has caught my eye more than once. It always reminded me of a Depression Era photo. My minds eye always viewed it in B&W, Kodak Plus X Pan. Using Aperture, I have attempted to capture that look.
Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > BOO !!! - Something for your dreams tonight.
Bruce Lukaszewicz (BELphotos) > BAMBI DID IT!!! - After 13 years of accident free travel, Bambi jumped in front of my pristine '96 Explorer today. I'm just happy that there was no mechanical damage, all plastic stuff and a small bend in the fender. I haven't posted a daily photo in a while and this will have to do for now. For those that are wondering, Bambi trotted off and flipped me the hoof as she left. The little b.......
